I finished this red Unoriginal Hat for my sister Lynn.This is my third Unoriginal, it is a very satisfying and quick project that, so far, looks pretty dang fantastic when keeping your ears warm.

Milkweed shawl

I just finished my Milkweed Shawl today.
This shawl was meant to be the simple knitting project I completed while visiting family in Iowa over the holidays. Unfortunately, I never really bonded with the pattern; I found that I the changes required every other row never allowed for the mindless knitting I had hoped for. This project took a lot longer than I anticipated it would, but I like the finished project all the same. I am glad to have it off the needles and am looking forward to wearing it at least a few times before the baby arrives next month.
Now I am free to attack the many pre-baby to-do list items I have on the list!

It is hard to take pictures of your pants

A bit of navy blue crafting happening around here.
I decided that a pair of these Amy Butler pajama pants were in order as I really need to practice using the Janome serger my mom gave me for Christmas.
This pattern was perfect for serger practice! I have already been making a list of friends-in-need-of-pajama-pants so that i can continue practicing. These polka dot pants will eventually get a nice contrasting fabric band at the bottom of each leg, I just have to decide which fabric it will be.
This was my second Unoriginal Hat. It was knit for a fundraiser auction my sister and I are putting on for the Make-A-Wish Foundation as we are competing in the upcoming Denver Oyster Race. Should be good fun. I think I might whip up a small quilt or table runner to add to the fundraising efforts as well.

The weather is mild here today, which means that I had better get myself out on my bike for a nice 20-30 mile ride celebrating non-90 degree temperatures!

Olympic knitting

These are the two projects that have been on and off the needles lately. The Jaywalker socks were a bit of a pill to get started, but that was due more to my own lack of research, rather than any problem with the pattern.
The Unoriginal Hat came from my Sticks 'n' Stitches raffle win of 1 skein of Rowan Big Wool.

Projects

The two projects in my que right now are the Lacy Baktus and the above bird baby quilt. The baby quilt has been a joint effort between P and I, but I am now on my own as sweet P has declared that he does not have the patience for hand sewing on the binding.
Crumpet was a little miffed when I pulled his pillow across the desk to make room for taking photos near the window, but he warmed to the idea when I covered him with the quilt. There are few things the sweet kitten likes more than being allowed to lay on or under my quilting project of the moment.

Eating, skiing & knitting

This past Saturday was the Sticks 'n' Stitches event at the Colorado Avalanche game. Pre-game, Phil, Ellie & I ate at the D Bar, every bite of which was fantastic.
Sunday Phil and I did a 10 mile cross country ski in the Brainard Lake area. The above photo is of Phil skiing across Long Lake.

My Fireside Footies finally felted down to just the right side. Oh how deliciously cozy these are.
Newly on the needles is my Lacy Baktus. I started this project while at the hockey game on Saturday, and so far, the pattern is simple and full of instant gratification.

Homemade marshmallows are delicious

In between bites of chocolate covered homemade marshmallows and dealing with serious cat assistance, P and I managed to get a bit of work done on J&B's baby quilt.
The request: yellow, red(ish), brown and green baby quilt that somehow includes birds.

Also, P's Fireside Booties finally felted to the proper size. The fit him like a dream, and look super cute too!
